Product Description
Calcium Nitrate is a highly water-soluble, odorless, and non-flammable inorganic salt, appearing as a clear to white crystalline solid. It is hygroscopic, readily absorbing moisture from the air. When dissolved in water, it forms a neutral to slightly acidic solution (pH 5–7). Calcium Nitrate is non-corrosive to most construction materials but can be corrosive to some metals in moist conditions. Its strong solubility and dual nutrient content (calcium and nitrate nitrogen) make it highly valued in agriculture, construction, and industrial applications.

Application Sectors and Industries of Calcium Nitrate
Agriculture and Fertilizers
Calcium Nitrate is a premium, chloride-free source of both calcium and nitrate nitrogen, making it ideal for fertigation, hydroponics, and foliar feeding. It improves fruit quality, shelf life, and resistance to physiological disorders such as blossom end rot in tomatoes and tip burn in lettuce. Its fast-acting, highly soluble form ensures immediate nutrient availability for crops.
Concrete and Construction
Used as a set accelerator and anti-freeze agent in concrete and mortar, Calcium Nitrate enhances early strength development and reduces the risk of corrosion in reinforced structures. It is especially valuable for cold weather concreting and chloride-free formulations.
Wastewater Treatment
Applied to control odor and reduce hydrogen sulfide generation by sulfate-reducing bacteria in municipal and industrial wastewater systems. Calcium Nitrate also aids in the precipitation of phosphorus and heavy metals.
Food Preservation
Used in the food industry to preserve the texture and firmness of vegetables such as celery and lettuce during storage and transport. It helps maintain product quality and extends shelf life.
Explosives Manufacturing
Serves as an oxidizing agent in the production of explosives and pyrotechnics, providing a controlled release of oxygen for stable combustion.
Chemical Manufacturing
A precursor for the synthesis of other calcium salts, catalysts, and specialty chemicals. It is also used in the production of molten salt mixtures for thermal energy storage.
Glass and Ceramics
Improves the quality and durability of glass and ceramic products by acting as a flux and stabilizer, reducing defects and enhancing thermal properties.
Latex and Rubber Processing
Used as a coagulant in the production of latex rubber, ensuring uniform particle size and improved product consistency.
Mining and Metallurgy
Applied in ore flotation and as a reagent for metal extraction processes, particularly for separating valuable metals from gangue.
Environmental Remediation
Used in soil stabilization, dust control, and the remediation of contaminated sites by promoting the immobilization of heavy metals and improving soil structure.
