Product Description
Sodium carbonate is a white, odorless, and hygroscopic solid. It is highly soluble in water (22 g/100 mL at 20°C), slightly soluble in glycerin, and insoluble in ethanol. The compound is strongly alkaline (aqueous solution pH ≈ 11.2), exhibits mild corrosivity, and is stable under normal conditions. Exposure to air can cause absorption of moisture and CO₂, leading to caking and formation of sodium bicarbonate.
